ABOUT ASC (Aquaculture Stewardship Council)

Founded in 2010 by WWF and IDH (Dutch Sustainable Trade Initiative) the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) is an independent not for profit organisation with global influence.

ASC aims to be the world’s leading certification and labelling programme for responsibly farmed seafood. The ASC’s primary role is to manage the global standards for responsible aquaculture, which were developed by the WWF Aquaculture Dialogues.

迄今為止，ASC 已分別為鮑魚(yú) (Abalone)、雙殼類(lèi) (Bivalves)、鲆鰈類(lèi)(Flatfish)、鯰屬 (Pangasius)、三文魚(yú) (Salmon)、海鱸魚(yú)、海鯛魚(yú)、白姑魚(yú)(Seabass, seabream, meagre)、鰤?mèng)~、軍曹魚(yú)(Seriola and Cobia)、羅非魚(yú) (Tilapia)、淡水鱒魚(yú) (Freshwater Trout)、熱帶有鰭魚(yú)(Tropical Marine Finfish)、海藻(Seaweed)及蝦 (Shrimp)發(fā)布了共12個(gè)養(yǎng)殖標(biāo)準(zhǔn)，1個(gè)飼料標(biāo)準(zhǔn)，并通過(guò)與MSC共享產(chǎn)銷(xiāo)監(jiān)管鏈標(biāo)準(zhǔn)保證了ASC產(chǎn)品從認(rèn)證魚(yú)場(chǎng)到最終消費(fèi)者之間的可追溯性。
Hitherto, ASC has issued 12 separate standards for the aquaculture of Abalone, Bivalves, Flatfish, Pangasius, Salmon, Seabass, seabream, meagre, Seriola and Cobia, Tilapia, Freshwater Trout, Tropical Marine Finfish, Seaweed and Shrimp and 1 Feed standard. By sharing the Chain of Custody standard issued by MSC, ASC also makes it’s possible to guarantee the traceability of ASC product from certified farm to final consumer.

Aquaculture has the potential to contribute to this global demand. It is the fastest growing animal food producing sector; over 50 per cent of seafood produced for human consumption comes from fish farms. However, as the sector grows so does its impact on the environment and local communities.
